Det har gått lite drygt två år sedan mellanviktaren Tim Kennedy klev in i en oktagon senast. Men nu är han tillbaka igen för att möta Rashad Evans på det minst sagt stjärnspäckade matchkortet för UFC 205. Det verkar dock inte som om den gode Kennedy, som vid sidan av sin fighterkarriär hela tiden varit stamanställd inom den amerikanska krigsmakten, har för avsikt att fortsätta gå matcher på längre sikt. Om han inte får chans på titeln mot regerande mellanviktsmästaren Michael Bisping.
I en intervju för Submission Radio berättade fightern nyligen om hur han ser på sin framtid. Under sin två år långa paus från MMA-scenen har han ägnat sig åt olika projekt inom film och TV, bland annat den uppmärksammade dokumentärserien “Hunting Hitler” som visades på History Channel förra året.
För Submission Radio avslöjade Kennedy att matchen mot Evans med stor sannolikhet kan bli det sista vi ser av honom inom UFC:s hank och stör. Om inte…
”There’s a really good chance that after this fight you’ll never see me again, well, in the octagon. I’m just getting started in my work outside of the octagon, where you’re gonna probably see me a lot more. But after November 12th, when I beat Rashad, if whoever the matchmaker is going to be in December for the 185 middleweight division, if they’re not talking about me being in the mix, about me as a potential match up against Michael Bisping for the title, then what’s the point? If I’m not gonna be in the mix for a title shot at this point in my career, where I have a win over the champion – what am I, like six and one in the last seven fights, with ”knockout of the night”, ”fight of the night” and my only loss was a super dumb controversial decision, I think we’ve got a lot of other things to do.”
